D. Imitator/Intermedius
The mimic poison frog is related to D. ventrimaculatus and is covered with relatively large and somewhat squarish black spots on an often metallic green (but also yellow and even pale orange) background. Traces of the middorsal stripe extend forward between the eyes and cut off a pair of rather squarish black snout spots, the major character of the species that distinguishes it from more typical D. ventrimaculatus and the form known as D. variabilis, which tend to have a single round spot over the snout. They are found in the dense wet rainforests of Peru. There is an orange form of the imitator that is called the tarapoto imitator (Tarapoto is the name of a city in Peru). Also, other form of the orange imitators are called the imitator-intermedius or intermedius and the Yurimaguensis imitator.

Banded Intermedius
Sometimes, standard intermedius will give offspring that look like banded intermedius but there is a clear difference in the belly pattern. See this link.
